New Access Yellow Pages being delivered

Access-Cover-webDelivery of the new Access Yellow Pages began June 30 in North San Luis Obispo County.

Door-to-door delivery of 45,000 books to every home and business will be completed within a week.

The new book features a beautiful photo of lupines and poppies blooming in front of a winding Highway 101.

“This is our biggest and best phone book ever,” said publisher Scott Brennan. “I would like to thank all of our advertisers for making it a huge success!”

Access Yellow Pages is celebrating its 17th year as North County’s community phone book.

If you can’t wait to get your phone book delivered, stop by the Access office at 554 Spring St. or pick up a copy at one of 10 yellow racks in North County.

 
Local wins $250 photo contest

Scott_Loy_copyScott Loy of Atascadero is the winner of Access Yellow Pages’ annual photo contest with his photo of lupine and poppies blooming in the foreground and a sweeping view of Highway 101 in the background.

He won the $250 grand prize and his photo is featured on this year’s cover. “There were over a hundred entries, many of them excellent, so it was really tough making a decision,” said Brennan. “I would like to thank all of the photographers who participated.”

The following photographers earned an honorable mention with their photos: Randi Fogle, Rex Thornhill, John Euphrat, Liz Allen, Valeire McGill, Candy Miars, Frank Joyce, Keppi Serpa, Joyce Rabellino, Sam Rabourn, Lewis Rowe.

Last year, sales tumbled to $1.5 billion and now the company is closed. It's mind-boggling how the richest man in the world, Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, could turn a multi-billion investment into nothing in just eight years. The biggest mistake the company made, according to analysts, was underestimating the need for marketing. While the competition fought it out for customers with aggressive advertising, CompUSA died trying to save some money.

Wine Line, Paso RoblesDon’t drive, hop on the Wine Line. it’s a new option for Paso Robles. A new transportation service just started that allows wine tasters to hop on and hop off a shuttle bus traveling between more than a dozen wineries.

Paso family opens Pizza Fusion

Susan and Brandon BoreneBrandon and Susan Borene of Paso Robles opened a new Pizza Fusion restaurant in San Luis Obispo recently.

It opened in San Luis Obispo next to Trader Joe's at 3971 S. Higuera St., Suite 120, San Luis Obispo, Calif. 93401. The restaurant is the first organic certified restaurant in San Luis Obispo.

"We were blessed with the birth of two healthy twin girls in September of 2004 and have since led a quest for a healthier lifestyle," Brandon explains. "Our recent search for a career change, led us to the discovery of Pizza Fusion, featuring a delicious organic menu of gourmet pizza, sandwiches, salads, and more. It is a perfect fit for the health and socially conscious residents of San Luis Obispo."
